Bite a Byte is an invitation to dive into a virtual dining experience. The proposal revolves around creating the menu for an imaginary restaurant called *Bite a Byte* (bite a byte), offering a selection of virtual dishes.
The growing excitement around the metaverse and the development of a virtual universe capable of surpassing the laws of the physical world runs into some clear limitations. One of those is food. Imagination and creativity soar at the idea of creating dishes free from the constraints of physics and chemistry. Making food float, shine, or take on all kinds of shapes, textures, and colors transports us to a fascinating virtual world of food; yet, it faces the impossible contradiction of consumption. Unlike the rising trend of digital fashion, where the boundary between the virtual and analog can be blurred through visual consumption, the absurdity of virtual food—where we can only "feast with our eyes"—clearly marks an insurmountable boundary.
